TEAM WORK MAKES THE DREAM WORK
Katrina Patient: Director / Choreographer
Katrina has been involved within all facets of the performing arts since she can remember. Growing up as a dancer this led her on to finding herself on stage in her theatre arts classes. Katrina has performed in numerous productions as a singer, actor and dancer.
Katrina completed her Bachelor of Education and has worked as a primary school teacher, specialising in music and drama, since 2006.
Her passion is finding the place for the performing arts in the primary school classroom and promoting the notion that the arts should be considered just as important as all other learning areas. Katrina was an integral part of creating the revolutionary arts program at Bold Park Community School and was a specialist Drama teacher, Arts, Marketing and Events coordinator for the school until 2016.
Katrina joined her now husband Trevor at Perth Youth Theatre (PYT) in 2004 and is the Director of the Term-Time Classes and the School Holiday Season Shows. The immensely successful PYT stages 15 School Holiday Season Shows every year, involving approximately 350 children aged 6-17 years. Many past students from PYT have gone on to perform live on-stage in Platinum Entertainment & Venue 360 Productions, whilst others have gone on to study at WAAPA, Nida and beyond.
Trevor Patient, Director / Technical
Trevor has produced and directed numerous shows, plays, revues, tours, pantomimes and theatre schools over the last 25 years (he lost count at 400) and considers himself very lucky to be both technically minded as well as creative. He studied music and drama in the UK where he also learned to conduct and he served in The Princess of Wales’ Royal Regiment as a TA bandsman. He toured England and Europe with various theatre and dance companies as company/stage manager.
He moved to Perth in 2002 and soon started producing theatre schools and musicals including the very successful ‘Tribute to the Blues Brothers’ which played at nearly every major venue in Perth.
Trevor was the first to study the Stage & Production Management Bachelor of Performing Arts course at The Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, where he also worked as a duty technician. Trevor established the immensely successful Perth Youth Theatre (PYT) in 2003 and continues as Technical Director supported by his wife Katrina.
